My name is Jeff Hatch. I am a man in long term recovery and have been sober since September 18, 2017. Prior to understanding what my issues really were, I worked incredibly hard to achieve “material” success in the hope that it would change the way I felt about myself. I graduated with a triple major from an Ivy League University, was drafted and played in the NFL, and won the President’s award for community service. In spite of these achievements, I still felt unhappy. Drugs and alcohol were my solution to those feelings. Thanks to the intervention of some people close to me, I went to treatment and began my journey of recovery. It was in that time that I realized that peace and serenity were an inside job.
I’ve worked in mental health and substance use disorder treatment for over 15 years, am a certified High Performance and Personal Transformation coach, and I believe that recovery is possible for anyone.
I live in Vancouver, WA with my wife Lauren, our cat Lilian, and our two dogs, Byron and Lincoln.
Lauren is a dedicated personal trainer with a profound commitment to helping others achieve their fitness goals. She is a woman in long-term recovery, a wife, and a proud fur Momma. Her story of transformation not only fuels her passion but also serves as a testament to the power of perseverance and self-care.
I have been conducting interventions since 2005 and started my own company, Freedom Interventions in 2010. During that time, I've led well over 1000 interventions and helped families and individuals get the resources to find lasting recovery from addiction and mental health issues.
In 2001 my own family needed to intervene on me due to my addiction to alcohol and other substances. At that time I refused the help being offered to me and the next two years were very difficult (but highly educational). On April 6, 2003 I got sober and have been sober ever since. Shortly after finding recovery from addiction, food became a secondary problem and coupled with lack of exercise, my health began to fail. The next several years were a challenge to find balance between the emotional, mental and physical aspects of life in recovery. I have become an avid lover of martial arts, weight lifting and sometimes even cardio....
In this podcast, Matt will share his experiences as a professional interventionist and a family man in long term recovery.
